Why welding lenses don’t flash and flash?

1.Principle of automatic light-changing welding lenses that darken.

The darkening principle of automatic light-changing welding lenses utilizes photosensitive elements and liquid crystal layer technology. In the lens, a photosensitive element (e.g. a photodiode or a photoresistor) is present to sense the intensity of light. When a strong light (e.g. a welding arc) is sensed, the photosensitive element generates an electrical signal. The electrical signal is sent to the liquid crystal layer, where the liquid crystal molecules adjust the transmission of light by changing their arrangement according to the strength of the electrical signal. When strong light is transmitted, the liquid crystal layer arrangement becomes denser, blocking some of the light from passing through, thus darkening the lens. This helps to minimize glare irritation and damage to the eyes. When the welding arc disappears or the light intensity diminishes, the electrical signal sensed by the photosensitive element decreases and the liquid crystal layer arrangement returns to its original state, making the lens transparent or brighter again. This self-adjusting feature allows welders to weld under a high-brightness arc while enjoying better vision and light conditions when there is no arc, improving welding efficiency and safety.

That is, when you are welding, once the arc sensors grab the welding arc, welding lens will darken very fast to protect your eyes.

2.Why can’t the auto-darkening welding flash when exposed to a cell phone flashlight or sunlight?

1). Welding arc is a hot light source, the arc sensors can only catch the hot light source to darken the lens.

2). To avoid flash due to the interfere of sunlight, we put one red membrane on the arc sensors.

3.Why do the lenses flicker repeatedly when you're welding?

1). You are usingTIG welding

Pay attention to the fact that Tig welding is a major unsolved problem in the welding protection industry.

Our lens can work well when you use the DC TIG 60-80A, or we suggest you to use the passive lens when you are using TIG welding.

2). Check if the battery is dead

If the battery is almost dead, it may not be able to reach the voltage at which the lens operates properly, and this will cause a flickering problem. Check to see if the low-battery display on the lens becomes illuminated, and replace the battery as soon as possible.
